A comprehensive guide to party registration. Still in progress.

When do I start party registration?

Event registration suggests at least 10 business days (i.e. 2 weeks) for registration to finish. It doesn't hurt to do it ASAP.

Who registers the party?

The party host should fill out the form. Importantly, they need to be 21 years or older, are not allowed to drink at the event, and enforce the 1 drink/hour rule. See here for MIT's Host Policy.

How do I get trained?

The Area Director (currently Alexandria) runs Party Safe training at the start of the school year. Keep an eye out for emails from them, and feel free to ask them directly if you're wondering when the next training date will be.

Where do I start registration?

Go to Atlas, Event Planning tab. Click "Register New Event". Fill out relevant information. Importantly, the planner should be your party host, and you should checkbox that you will serve alcohol.

Yay registration! What the page and buttons you should click are.

Useful and often overlooked items in the registration

Space Reservation

  • To get proof of space reservation, you get your hall chairs to send an email stating the party date/time/location.
  • You can't host parties in the hallways.
  • Note space capacities for kitchens/lounges

Alcohol

  • The alcohol form provided mentions a 3rd party cash bar; don't worry about it and skip relevant sections.
  • In addition to alcohol, you must serve non-alcohol food (chips, cookies, fruit snacks, etc.)
  • Allowed alcohol: beer and wine

How do I get refunded?

See the reimbursement instructions.
