Grilling the candidates:
Q=question M=Mandie J=Jenn L=Laura Sa=Sarah Se=Sean
- Q:How hosed are you guys?
- M: sub director for lsc, president of APO, 64 units
- J: 56 units, producing vagina monologues, class council
- L: usually 48-54 units, dormcon
- Sa: VP of APO, some classes, will be here in the summer
- Se: classes, UROP
- Q: will you be here this summer?
- all will be here this summer, except Martini. She doesn't know yet.
- Q: Balancing # of freshmen, policies on assigning freshmen?
- M: she said lots of stuff
- J: balance is important
- L: Sometimes you can't avoid imbalance.
- J: Important to leave rooms open on a variety of halls. Maybe it's okay to give freshmen their 3rd choice sometimes instead of their 1st choice.
- L: Disagrees because she wants freshmen to have their highest choice. Also, transfers know what rooms are available when they accept the transfer.
- Q: What will you do when shit hits the fan?
- Sa: when any conflict arises i would want the community to get together and discuss it then the house team then the COD and housing.
- Se: Important to keep things internal if possible.
- Q: Specific plans?
- Sa: work more with the arc/uap to see if we can reduce orientation and rush event conflicts. Another thing, we need a better pet policy. Need a list, a way to deal with cats that are unhealthy and sad. Encourage more ec events outside of drinking at parties.
- Se: Promote interhall communication. Try to alleviate grunging problems and fire inspection problems w/ Joe G.
- Q: plans for a mediation panel?
- Se: wants to "take the initial measures to help mediate any conflict"
- Sa: thinks it's the pres' responsibility to either mediate or figure out who can mediate. Mediation workshops.
- Q: How to organize students w/o alerting house team?
- Sa: town meeting. talk to hall chairs.
Done!
