Housecomm Minutes (9/13/06)

Attendance: All present

Vote to Remove Milo from office:
For: 111
Against: 1111111

Judcomm Discussion:

• Judcomm's can't hear things that are against the law. Milo will give each hall paperwork that they can discuss and we can debate next Housecomm.
• There will be formal training for Judcomm members.
• Examples of cases Judcomm could hear would be destruction of property.
• Would have the power to give punishments.
• Would be a buffer between EC and the outside world (Jessie Lowell)
• Remove burden from EC Exec to deal with sensitive situations
• Should try not to bring moronic cases to Judcomm.
• Maybe Judcomm should be close to a last resort. (Mandi)
• Milo thinks that there are 3-9 people on Judcomm. Should be an odd number.
• If we decide to have one but don't like it we can get rid of it.
• Will take a term to establish
• Can disband with a housecomm vote

Water War Damage:

• $1,175 in damage
• Each hall gets approximately $1000 a term in funds
• Halls that want to contribute:

1E: $100
2E: $100
3E: $400
5E: $100
2W: $117.50

The difference will be covered by East Campus funds.

The Tech:

• Wants to write an article about Milo's impeachment and the party on 4W. Tell them "No Comment" if they ask you something.
• If you have already given them a quote, you can ask them not to print it.
• They can also get quotes from your blog if you have a blog.

Bad Ideas:

• Elect two Bad Ideas Chairpeople. Send an announcement to dorm to get candidates and vote on it next Housecomm.

  • Interhall grilling this term in addition to interhall dinners.
  • Soccomm will buy charcoal and grilling tools for general use.

  • Wrote up instructions on how to use AV equipment.
  • Will set it up for you if you email them with more than 30 min notice

  • bought new tools and can help you fix bikes.
  • Working on getting bikes for desk.

  • Will make rounds on halls to collect tools.
  • Drills have disappeared.

  • Wood that was salvaged from rush is in the comproom.

  • Key is gone

Treasurer Update:

• Budget Meeting in 2 weeks
• Comms must get proposed budgets to Jenn in one week.
• Copy of budget is in her public directory

DormCon Update:

• Don't Haze
• Hallways and lounges should be no smoking areas according to the city of cambridge
• Housing is starting a smoking registration process so that the city of cambridge will know who is smoking.
• They don't really care if you smoke or not.
• More information is forthcoming
• Martini has copies of freshman's housing rankings. EC wasn't that popular.

Bathroom Reader:

• Will publish a bathroom reader every couple of weeks.
• needs a representative of every hall to agree to put it up.

Jessie Lowell says:

• UA elections are coming up. We need 2 EC senators. Can ask her, or Sarah Hopp, or Ruth Shewmon what it entails.
