Housecomm Minutes 3/15/06

  • Roll call: 1e,2e,3e,4e,5e,1w,2w,3w,4w,5w

  • CPW: CPW chairs are not here (lame-o's). We need to sign up to host prefrosh! To run an event talk to CPW chairs and fill out the form.

  • Rush: Temporary tatoos being made. Barcodes deactivated property stickers. Dinner in the dorms: all dorms host dinner for parents and frosh. We might talk to Pritchett. Will be held on Sunday.

  • Pritchett: Phil Walsh open to suggestions. Late night dining hasn't taken off. Want suggestions to revamp the menu. There are currently no games or controllers for the Xbox 360. Possibly rent games from EC desk. Talk to Sarah Hopp or Ruth Shewmon if you want to wank about Pritchett.

  • CMS: CMS wants to use EC for a study. Henry Jenkins launched a research program to look at how college students are consuming media. Involves researchers hanging out with us and talking. Also one-on-one interviews. Will happen throughout March and possibly April. We will be able to see the results of the study. Want to document culture and see how it changes. Corporate money is involved (MTV, Turner), but they are not hiring the researchers or directing the questions of the research. According to Sam Ford, representative for the study, nobody should worry about being prosecuted if they reveal illegal stuff. Students would be required to sign consent forms. Incentives will be provided for people who are interviewed in depth. For further questions or concerns email Sam Ford. Up to individual halls what they want to talk about and what they should have discretion about. Sean Morton, Mandi Holmes, and Jenn Gagner will stipulate deal with further stipulations (either not to use name of EC or not to mention illegal downloading of music).

  • St. Patrick's Day FAC on Friday.

  • Meating with Danny Trujillo about feedback for the event registration process this Friday after the FAC.
